This thread is going to detail how you import miis from the online mii maker to your wii without any issues. This process takes several steps but is relatively easy. Once you have done it a few times, you can do it in less than 5 minutes. The pictures for each step are going to be in the spoilers. So let's start off with the things you are going to need.

What you need
Hardware
-Wii/WiiU
-SD Card (doesn't matter the type)
-Computer w/ SD card reading capabilities

Software
-Savegame Manager GX
-Homebrew Channel
-Working Mii Maker

Step 1 - Install SaveGame Manager GX
Read through the wiibrew page about SaveGame Manager GX. We're not going to be messing with anything that messes with your Wii's NAND so no worries. After reading through, download SaveGame Manager GX. After clicking the download, create a folder named SaveGame_Manager_GX in the apps folder in your sd card. Extract the contents in the zip file into that folder. Next, create a folder in the root of the SD Card named savemiis. This is the folder where you are going to extract your miis to.

If you already have this application, you can skip this step and move onto step 2.

Step 2 - Create Placeholder Mii
Make a mii in the mii channel named something that you are going to remember. This mii is going to act as a placeholder mii so that you can copy it's mii ID to the mii that you want to import.

Step 3 - Export Your Placeholder Mii
Load up the Homebrew Channel and open SaveGame Manager GX. If the application gives you an error, reinstall it.
After it loads, click the SD Card Icon on the top of the screen and click Mii

After clicking the mii icon, find your place holder mii and click on it. After clicking on it, click extract. Click default because it will default to your savemiis folder. Extract the Mii. When extracted, it will say successfully extracted. Click ok and exit the channel. Exit by pressing the home button and exiting back to the wii menu.

Step 4 - Create Your Custom Mii
The website to make the miis online is found right here: Riiconnect24 Mii Editor
The thread to find custom symbols can be found here: Custom Symbols
Enable flashplayer and now you can create your mii.
Eject your SD Card from your wii and put it into your computer. Go into the bottom left corner of the mii editor and click the floppy disc icon. After the menu is brought up, click load. Go into your SD Card under savemiis, find your placeholder Mii, and load it. From here you can do two things. You can either have another mii editor tab up with the mii your created or just create your custom mii over the placeholder mii file. As long as you have the correct Avatar ID you are fine.
Regarding custom symbols, you just copy and paste them into the Avatar Name. They will appear as a little box but I assure you, the symbol is there.

Step 5 - Exporting Your Custom Mii
After you are done creating your mii, double check that the Avatar ID is the same one as the placeholder mii. Once you have done this, click the save/floppy disc icon and click Save. Once it brings up the save popup, make sure you DO NOT save the mii as a .mae but instead as .miigx. This is the file format that SaveGame Manager GX can read. Save the mii as a .miigx into your savemiis folder in the root of your SD Card. After you've done this, eject your sd card and put it back into your Wii.

Step 6 - Importing Your Mii Onto Your Wii
Before going back into SaveGame Manager GX, go into the Mii Channel and delete your placeholder mii. This mii is no longer necessary. Do not skip this step. After deleting your placeholder mii, exit the mii channel and go into SaveGame Manager GX. After loading SaveGame Manager. Once SaveGame Manager has loaded, find the savemiis folder on the menu. Click on the folder and your will see mii files. Your mii may not be named correctly right now. This is because SaveGame Manager cannot display certain symbols outside the English Alphabet. Find your mii file, click on it, and then click install.

After clicking install, click ok since it will ask you if you want to install it onto your wii. After it says you've successfully installed the mii, your new custom mii should be in the mii channel. If you want to, open up the mii channel and double check that the mii is there.

Now that you have completed all the steps, you can boot mario kart back up and select the mii for your license without any issues.

Thank you for viewing this thread and hopefully it will help you. One thing I am wondering is if the Avatar ID Is consistent for each Wii. If so I was wondering if someone could potentially help me make a chart for Miis 1 through 100 listing each Avatar ID. That would be helpful for people that cannot access their mii maker so that they can skip the placeholder mii step by just looking at the chart. Anyways good luck and have fun making miis!
